About Remstats

Remstats is a system of programs to:

  • gather data from servers and routers,
  • store and maintain the data for long periods,
  • produce graphs and web-pages tieing them together, and
  • monitor the data for anomalous behavious and issue alerts

It's built on RRDtool. There is a proto-FAQ; feel free to contribute. There's also a to-do list to give some idea what might be coming.

Where to get it

The best available version is 1.0.13a. You can get it at http://sourceforge.net/projects/remstats. The current version is 1.0.13a. (This version may not be available yet, as I will push out new documentation before the new release, to make additions/corrections available as soon as possible.) You can get other versions of remstats from the source archive. Since almost all of it is written in perl, there is no binary version.

How to get started

First, you should make sure that you have all the requirements. Then read the installation docs. Then read the server installation docs.

Then check out run-remstats which runs almost everything else and documents how all the pieces work together.

Thank-you.
